Certification for Foreign Lawyer

I have a friend who lives in Russia, and he wants to live permanently in this country because he enjoys the freedom here in America. This Russian is a lawyer and as far as I know, he is a forensic specialist. What would my friend have to do to get work in the legal field here after he has moved to the United States from Russia?
