redeeming saving bonds
By Duane E. Kennedy from Belle Vernon, Pa. 15012 on September 13, 2005 in US Savings Bonds
I purchased saving bonds for my son over many years. I put the bonds in his name, with me as secondary owner upon his death.
At the time I thought this was a good idea. He could not get the bonds, becaused I held them. I could not cash them when if I needed money. A good plan didnot work out. The money was for college. This is where the plan became a problem.
He didnot want to use the money for college. He left my home and went to live with his mother. She didnot want me to know where she lived. I told Darren, my son, it was his responablity to contact me, when he was ready for college.
As thing turned out, he hasnot contact me for over (13) thirteen years. I donot know if he is dead or living. At this time I would like to cash them in.
but they are in his name.
Thank you
