Camera will not turn on (battery is fully charge)-No image on the LCD screen

Camera will not turn on (battery is fully charge) and no image appears on the LCD screen. I would like to know if anyone has experienced this with any Cannon camera of their own and if I need to contact the manufacturer to let them know the problem?
