Speeding ticket

My son was arrested for speeding. he had to appear in court in person. he lives ,attends school and works in Boston, Ma. The judge has sentenced him to 6 days time with 4 suspended. He has no other driving offense, first time in court. he has to come back next weekend to spend 48 hrs in jail. for a first offense? I am puzzeled. He is afraid to appeal as she may give more time. Pls advise |
