|
| How long does it take for
my site to be indexed?
The time period to include your website is usually within 24
hours from the time you submit your site and it is indexed/added
in our database. Your site will be indexed within a maximum of
3-5 business days.
If you want to guarantee that your page gets included in SightQuest,
visit our Site Submit Page.
|
| How often does SightQuest refresh its database
or crawl the Web?
SightQuest's database indexes website submissions immediately after they
are accepted into our database. After your website is added to the appropriate
category it is immediately available to website visitors through our directory
and through our search option.
|
| How can I find out whether
my site has been indexed?
If your site has a title of "Infinity Hosting", for example, a
search for that exact entry should show that website indexed
in our database and the category that it is listed.
|
| What happens if I make a spelling mistake
when I submit my site?
After checking your website in our index, please email us
with any corrected information and it will be changed within 2-4
business days. You do not need to resubmit your site URL, description, and/or title
again after it has been already accepted. Multiple submissions may result
in your website getting permanently removed from our database.
|
| How does SightQuest know
when I change or remove my web site?
SightQuest crawls its own database of websites periodically to
check for websites that may be down or no longer being hosted.
When we crawl or revisit your website, and it is down, we will
not delete it at that point. We will detect possible changes,
and whether pages have been removed. Your website will only be
removed after the second attempt to access it, approximately one
week later if it is not in operation.
|
| Why is my site no longer in your index?
There is no general answer to that. Pages may be removed from
the index for various reasons like .e.g. unavailable pages when
our crawler visited your site the second time. Also, we continuously
strive to improve the quality of the SightQuest index. As a part
of this quality improvement, we remove content we regard as spam,
warez, or Free for All (FFA) link pages which display only banners
or lean towards negative or racist content.
|
| What technology is behind
SightQuest Web Search?
Currently, SightQuest Web Search is using its own proprietary
search technology.
|
| Can I add SightQuest Web Search to my page?
At this time we are not letting advertisers use our "web
search box" to their website. We will be making this change
in the coming months when we release our new SightQuest search
technology platform. To add a link back to SightQuest from your
website, please visit our Submission
page for easy instructions on how to do this.
